Serrano Ham Platter — The Jewel of Spanish Charcuterie at Taperia La Mina
Our Serrano Ham Platter (Tabla de Jamón Serrano) is a celebration of one of Spain’s greatest culinary treasures. Premium jamón serrano is carefully hand-sliced into delicate, translucent ribbons and arranged beautifully on a platter with toasted bread. Each slice reveals the characteristic marbling and deep ruby color that signify months — sometimes years — of careful curing in the mountain air of Spain.
The Art of Jamón Serrano
Jamón serrano — literally “mountain ham” — is Spain’s most popular cured ham, produced in regions across the country. The legs are salted and left to dry in the cool mountain air for a minimum of 7 months, though the finest examples cure for 12 to 18 months or longer. This slow process concentrates the flavors and creates the tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture that makes Spanish ham world-famous.
How We Serve Our Ham Platter
At Taperia La Mina, our serrano ham is sliced to order by hand, ensuring each piece is the perfect thickness — thin enough to appreciate the texture, thick enough to savor the flavor. We arrange the slices in an overlapping fan pattern on a wooden board, accompanied by toasted bread rubbed with fresh tomato and drizzled with olive oil. The combination of salty, nutty ham with the warm, crispy bread is simply divine.
Pairing Recommendations
Serrano ham pairs beautifully with a range of drinks. A glass of fino or manzanilla sherry is the classic Spanish pairing, as the wine’s dry, nutty character complements the ham’s saltiness perfectly. A cold beer or a glass of Cava also works wonderfully. For a complete experience, combine our ham platter with the Cheese Platter for the ultimate Spanish charcuterie board.
