Havana Club Rum

Havana Club Rum at Taperia La Mina — Cuba’s Legendary Aged Rum

Our Havana Club Rum at Taperia La Mina is Cuba’s most prestigious rum, embodying centuries of Caribbean rum-making tradition. Founded in 1878 in the coastal town of Cardenas, Havana Club has become Cuba’s signature spirit — a smooth, complex aged rum that captures the warmth, passion, and soul of the island. At our restaurant in Benidorm, we serve Havana Club as the ultimate expression of Cuban rum craftsmanship.

The Cuban Rum Tradition

Cuba is often considered the birthplace of modern rum, and the Cuban method of rum-making is unique. Sugarcane honey (rather than molasses) is fermented with proprietary yeast strains, distilled in copper column stills, and aged in white oak barrels in Cuba’s warm tropical climate. The heat accelerates the aging process, concentrating flavors and creating a smoothness that would take decades to achieve in cooler climates. Havana Club’s approach to aging is meticulous — every drop is aged for a minimum of three years.

Havana Club Tasting Notes

Havana Club Añejo 3 Años pours a warm amber-gold. The nose offers vanilla, caramel, tobacco leaf, and tropical fruit. On the palate, it is smooth and medium-bodied with flavors of toffee, brown sugar, dried fruit, and a gentle oak warmth. The finish is clean and slightly spicy. For a more complex experience, the Añejo Reserva and Añejo 7 Años expressions offer even greater depth. Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in a classic Cuban cocktail.
