Brugal Rum

Brugal Rum at Taperia La Mina — Premium Aged Rum from the Dominican Republic

Our Brugal Rum at Taperia La Mina is a premium aged rum from the Dominican Republic — a spirit that combines Caribbean warmth with Spanish colonial heritage. Founded in 1888 by Andrés Brugal Montaner, a Spanish-Catalan immigrant who settled in Puerto Plata, Brugal has grown to become the Dominican Republic’s most prestigious rum and one of the Caribbean’s most respected producers. At our restaurant in Benidorm, Brugal is our aged rum recommendation for guests who appreciate depth and complexity in their spirits.

The Dominican Rum Tradition

The Dominican Republic is one of the rum world’s great centers, and Brugal is at the heart of that tradition. The rum is distilled from fermented sugarcane molasses using a combination of column and pot stills, then aged in a solera system — where younger rums are blended with older ones through a cascading series of American oak barrels. This produces rums of remarkable consistency and complexity, with layers of flavor that improve with each year of aging.

Tasting Brugal

Brugal’s aged expressions pour a warm amber-gold. The nose offers vanilla, toasted coconut, dried fruit, and gentle oak spice. On the palate, it is smooth and medium-to-full bodied with flavors of caramel, baked apple, nutmeg, and a gentle sweetness balanced by oak tannins. The finish is long and warming. Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in classic rum cocktails. Discover Dominican rum heritage at Taperia La Mina.
